Little Red Dress

Congratulations–If you’re reading this, you made it to Friday! Ahh, what a week it has been. I can’t properly describe how THRILLED I am to start the weekend. It’s our second weekend home in McAllen in 2 months! I only have 2 trips to Laredo left before my wedding day. SWEET NIBBLETS, as I like to say.

I want to be really transparent here, because it’s been coming up a lot lately. Because of the world we live in, it makes total sense to assume that all bloggers look FLAWLESS every minute of every day. I’m talking about the perfect, barely-there makeup, naturally wavy hair, perfect outfit + accessories, etc.

If I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting you, you know that when it comes to my appearance, I like to keep things REAL. And depending on the day, that could mean a variety of different things.

Sure, I LOVE dressing up–it makes me feel happy, creative and in my zone. But, there’s another side of me that LOVES not giving a shit. C’mon, you girls that have come up to me at the mall, coffee shops, etc., know what I’m talking about *wink wink* (I was wearing leggings EVERY TIME–& yes, my mom yelled at me for it later LOL).

As Drake once said, “Sweat pants, hair tied, chillin’ with no makeup on, that’s when you’re the prettiest”–let’s just say that those lyrics speak to me haha. Around 60% of the time (depending on the kind of week I’ve had), you’ll catch me with my hair in a messy bun, bare-faced (okay + some good SPF, because freckles!), wearing my pilates clothes or my chill-er work wardrobe that consists of “acceptable” mini-dresses. And I own it because that’s how I feel divinely comfortable, fresh and at ease.

In this day and age of perfect flat lays and manicured Instagram posts, I think it’s more important than ever to be REAL–I wear yoga leggings out and I LOVE them. I also like to dress up on the weekends to go to the grocery store–I ain’t sorry. If anything, giving into that little voice that tells you it’s okay to wear that big t-shirt you love so much when you feel bloated as hell (instead of those annoying, tight jeans) makes your style multi-dimensional.

So, next time you’re dreading putting on something that is so uncomfortable it should be illegal, I hope you give yourself a little break! We all deserve one once in awhile.
