Wearing Elizabeth & James top, H&M jeans (liked below!), Celine sunnies and Stan Smiths

It’s so crazy to think that so many things are different in my life as of only last week. It’s insane how much things can change in such a small amount of time. <— I’ll be sharing more on that big “change” soon. Trust me, it’s BIG!

Anyways, onto one of my favorite topics: mixing the high and low.

So, if you’re reading this, I’m going to take a wild guess and say that your closet isn’t filled with Balenciaga and Chanel (yet). Don’t worry–mine isn’t either! For that reason, I’ve decided to put together a little guide on mixing the high and the low. Namely, wearing more expensive pieces (i.e. this Elizabeth & James top) with lower end, yet still chic items (my H&M jeans) for a look that’s effortless and cool and totally street-style snap worthy.

  1. Balance. I think this might be the most important tip, but make sure if you’re wearing something a little fancy schmancy (i.e. my top!) to pair it with something casual and relaxed. If you happen to own any stunning designer (or just stunning really) tops, pair them with unexpected items like vintage Levis.
  2. Start small. Clothes isn’t the only option you’ve got. Think designer shoes, jewelry, sunnies, handbags, etc! Pair them with those cool pieces you scooped up at Forever 21 last week fun a fun play on high and low.
  3. Be a bargain hunter. I know this isn’t for everyone, but if you asked me how many designer items I’ve purchased at regular price, you’d be shocked! I tend to find all my pieces at places like TJ Maxx. Trust me, they are literal GOLD MINES (cough cough, my top retailed for $325. I scooped it up for $9.99). All you need is a strong latte, patience, and a good 2 hours.
